Pioneer Christmas Festive Fridays Cancelled

Deadwood History’s Pioneer Christmas Festive Fridays has been cancelled on December 16, 2016, due to the weather forecast of impending snow and very cold temperatures.  Please travel safely and stay warm. 

DEADWOOD – Children in grades K-6 are invited to enjoy some holiday cheer with Deadwood History’s Pioneer Christmas Festive Fridays on December 9 and 16, 2016, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Students will take a step back in time and learn how early settlers celebrated the holidays. Participants will make ornaments and other holiday crafts. Cost per program is $6 for museum members and $11 for non-members. Light refreshments will be served. Bernie Williams Award for History

DEADWOOD – Deadwood History, Inc. is proud to announce the seventh annual Bernie Williams Award for History. Lead-Deadwood students in grades K-6 can submit a piece of artwork to Deadwood History no later than Monday, December 19, 2016. The winners will receive a full calendar year scholarship to all Deadwood History youth and family programs. Winners will be notified in January, 2017. All applicants’ artwork will be displayed in an art show in February, 2017.

Deadwood History's Annual Holiday Open House

DEADWOOD – Deadwood History will host a Holiday Open House at the Days of ‘76 Museum on Saturday, December 3, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Children of all ages and their families are invited to join museum staff for a festive holiday event. Admission to the museum is free.

DEADWOOD – Deadwood History, Inc. will host a Print Making Workshop at the Days of ‘76 Museum on Saturday, November 19, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The workshop is $6 for museum members and $11 for non-members. The workshop is suggested for students in grades K-6. Call Shantel Pettit, Education Director, at 605-578-1657 for reservations or more information. Reservations are required. 

DEADWOOD – On Friday, November 11, 2016, at 6:00 p.m. until Saturday, November 12, 2016, at 8:00 a.m. children in grades 3 – 7 are invited to spend the night at the Days of ‘76 Museum. Children must have successful sleepover experience and plan to spend the night. All meals are provided. Admission for The Snoozeum is $25 per child or $20 per museum members. Reservations are required, no walk-ins. Space is limited; call Shantel Pettit, Education Director, at 605-578-1657. Children may arrive anytime between 5:30 and 6:00 p.m. with their parents to register.

DEADWOOD – Deadwood History, Inc. will begin winter hours on November 1, 2016, with the Adams Museum and the Days of ‘76 Museum open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday through March 2017. The museums are closed on Sundays, Mondays, and winter holidays. The Historic Adams House will be closed November through March, but open for specialty tours. The museums welcome groups of 10 or more with advance reservations Monday through Sunday.

DEADWOOD – Deadwood History, Inc. and the Deadwood Historic Preservation Commission will host a presentation by Rick Mills, South Dakota Humanities Council Speakers’ Bureau Scholar, at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 3, 2016, at the Homestake Adams Research and Cultural Center (HARCC), 150 Sherman Street, Deadwood. The event is wheelchair accessible. Please feel free to bring your lunch.
