Deadwood History’s Festive Fridays

DEADWOOD – Children in grades K-6 are invited to enjoy some holiday cheer with Deadwood History’s Festive Fridays on December 4, 11 and 18, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Students will make holiday crafts, play games and read Christmas stories. Cost per program is $6 for museum members and $11 for non-members. Light refreshments will be served. Festive Fridays will be held at the Homestake Adams Research and Cultural Center (HARCC), 150 Sherman Street, Deadwood.

DEADWOOD – Calamity’s Shindig will be held on Friday, February 19, 2016, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Homestake Adams Research and Cultural Center (HARCC). Calamity’s Shindig will include musical entertainment, hors d’ oeuvres, cash bar, as well as silent and live auctions. Tickets are $35.00 per person and may be purchased by calling 605-722-4800.

Bernie Williams Award for History

DEADWOOD – Deadwood History, Inc. is proud to announce the sixth annual Bernie Williams Award for History. Lead-Deadwood students in grades K-6 can submit a piece of artwork to Deadwood History no later than December 14, 2015. The winners will receive a full calendar year scholarship to all Deadwood History youth and family programs. Winners will be notified in January, 2016. All applicants’ artwork will be displayed in an art show in February, 2016.

DEADWOOD – Deadwood History will host a Space Workshop at the Days of ‘76 Museum on Saturday, November 14, 2015, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The Learning Workshop is $6 for members and $11 for non-members. The workshop is suggested for students in grades K-6. Call Shantel Pettit, Education Director, at 605-578-1657 for reservations. Reservations are required.

DEADWOOD – Deadwood History, Inc. and the Deadwood Historic Preservation Commission will host a presentation by Dr. David Wolff, Professor Emeritus, at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2015, at the Days of ‘76 Museum, 18 Seventy Six Drive, Deadwood. The event is wheelchair accessible. Please feel free to bring your lunch.

DEADWOOD – On Friday, November 6, 2015, at 6:00 p.m. until Saturday, November 7, 2015, at 8:00 a.m. children in grades 3 – 7 are invited to spend the night at the Days of ‘76 Museum. Children must have successful sleepover experience and plan to spend the night. All meals are provided. Admission for The Snoozeum is $25 per child or $20 per museum members, plus applicable taxes. Reservations are required, no walk-ins. Space is limited; call Shantel Pettit, Education Director, at 605-578-1657. Children may arrive anytime between 5:30 and 6:00 p.m. with their parents to register.

DEADWOOD, S.D. (10/15/15) -- The annual Deadweird Halloween party, with more than $10,000 up for grabs to the best costumes, is set for Oct. 30 and 31 in Deadwood.

DEADWOOD – Deadwood History will host the One Book South Dakota Program featuring Ordinary Grace by William Kent Krueger at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2015. The discussion will be led by Dr. Joanna Jones at the Homestake Adams Research and Cultural Center (HARCC), 150 Sherman Street, Deadwood. Refreshments will be served.
